The category
“Skin tightening” is a market name, not a mechanism
Read that sentence before you read a single spec sheet, because it is the reason two devices with identical category labels can be nothing alike.
The phrase exists because that is what practice owners and their clients type into a search bar. Manufacturers answer to it, and so the shelf fills with devices that share a marketing label and share nothing else: mechanical stimulation platforms, radiofrequency systems, ultrasound systems, cryo-thermal spa devices, microcurrent systems, and various combinations.
What follows from that is simple and worth internalising. A category label is never a claim about any specific device. Whether a device may be described as doing anything in particular is determined by its own regulatory labeling — a 510(k) clearance and its indications for use, where one exists — not by the section of a catalogue it appears in. Any seller who blurs those two things is telling you something about their compliance culture.
So this page uses the category term the way it is meant to be used: as the name of the market you are shopping in. Everything specific below is tied to a device, a manufacturer, and a source.
Due diligence
Seven questions before you buy anything in this category
1. What is the 510(k) number, and what does it actually say?
Ask for the number, the exact configuration it applies to, and the link. Then read the indications-for-use statement on the FDA database. Note whether the words on the clearance match the words in the brochure.
2. Which configuration am I quoted on?
Ranges differ internally. In our own range, only the laser-equipped icoone® models carry clearances — the non-laser models do not, and we say so. Ask a competing rep the same question and see whether the answer is that precise.
3. Face, body, or both?
Some devices are face-only by design. icoone® Microfacial is; Cryoskin® Revolution and the icoone® Beauty and Medical families run face and body. Buying a body platform for a facial menu is an expensive way to discover the difference.
4. What does the client wear, and feel?
Body suit or gel, warm or cool, one hand or two, 20 minutes or 70. This is the service you will be selling every day; it decides your room, your schedule and your price.
5. Consumables per client?
Get the schedule in writing: gel, suits, tips, cartridges, applicators, replacement parts, software or per-session fees. Sticker price is the smallest part of cost of ownership.
6. How many are already installed near me?
Category maturity cuts both ways. A familiar name is easier to sell and harder to price; a scarce one is harder to explain and easier to own. Ask for the local number.
7. What happens in the 90 days after delivery?
Training dates, installation, marketing, lead flow, and who is accountable. Get it in the purchase agreement rather than in an email.

The technology. Patented Roboderm® microstimulators — 86% of each surface is micro-holes — deliver up to 21,600 fractional microstimulations a minute. Non-thermal mechanical stimulation, applied with two motorised hands at once, on every skin type, with no downtime.
